It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Sister, Cousin, and Friend, Melanie Anne McElduff (Flow), who departed this life on May 19, 2025 after a courageous and long battle with cancer. She was 67 years old.
Born on June 3, 1957 in Charlotte NC, Melanie was a lifelong resident of the city she loved. Charlotte was the foundation of her life, where she was raised, built her family, and created a lasting legacy. She owned and operated her father's family business, International Steel, along with her brothers Jim McElduff and David Sims.
Melanie was a proud and devoted member of the Gold Star Wives of America, where she found community and purpose in supporting the families of fallen service members after the passing of her husband, Jonald Flow in 2001. Her dedication to this cause reflected her deep empathy, patriotism, and desire to uplift others during their most difficult times.
Her presence was a source of comfort, her laughter a source of joy, and her strength an enduring inspiration to those who knew her. Her home was always open to others and she loved a house full of family and friends alike.
She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Flow (son-in-law, Andrew Fuentes); brother Jim (Libby); sister-in-law Judy Sims (David); and goddaughter Lori Curran (Ryan) - who will continue to honor her memory by living their lives with the same courage and grace she showed each day. Melanie was preceded in death by her husband, Jonald Flow; brother David Sims; and brother Steve McElduff.
A visitation will be held for family and close friends in Charlotte on Saturday May 24, 2025 at McEwen Sharon Memorial Park from 2pm - 4pm, where her life and memory will be celebrated. She fought with grace and lived a life of quiet strength. She will be dearly missed.
