Mike was a unique individual who loved the great outdoors and embraced a life of exploration. He pursued his hobbies with great enthusiasm and lived life on his own terms.
In his professional life, Mike had a diverse career. In high school he was a member of the ROTC. After high school he joined the US Army and served as a Tank Commander and cartographer. He was a counselor for teenagers and a parole officer in the city of Trenton. While working, he was a volunteer EMT for the National Ski Patrol for many years at Vernon Valley. He also supervised a lumber company in Honduras. Mike then served 15 years as a Chief Investigator for the State of New Jersey in the division of public welfare, where he investigated Medicare fraud while serving as a handwriting analyst for court cases.
Mike's educational background was equally impressive. He obtained a Bachelor's degree in English and a Master's degree in Psychology from Keane College.
Outside of his professional pursuits, Mike had a wide range of hobbies. He was an avid investigator of Bigfoot sightings, dedicating over 30 years to the search. He traveled extensively throughout the United States and Canada, utilizing his custom tricked-out "squatch mobile," and was also the author of the book "Sasquatch For Sale" which is still sold on Amazon. Mike also had a pilot's license and was a skilled sailor who built two ships and explored the seas around Greece, British Columbia, the Manicouagan Reservoir, the Chesapeake Bay, and the Caribbean. He also enjoyed building and restoring houses in Hopewell, New Jersey. Mike was a talented artist, both in sewing and painting. Mike learned to love having dogs and thanked Carol for introducing him to the love of animals.
A memorial service will be held at Wilson Funeral Home, located at 5301 Albermarle Road, Charlotte, NC 28212, at 1 PM, where family and friends can come together to celebrate Mike's life.
Mike is survived by his loving wife, Carol Anne Racz Greene, his son Daniel Greene, step-sons William and Christian Racz, sister Annie Sailer, brother Jeff Greene, half-siblings Kathy, Elizabeth, Harry, Randolph Sailer, and Valerie Greene, former wife Elena Greene and step-grandchildren Katelyn and Evan Racz.
In memory of Michael, charitable donations can be made directly to Doctors Without Borders, Razom for Ukraine. Or the Church of Jesus Christ (not the mormons), in care of Carol Greene.
Mike Greene will be remembered as a free spirit who fearlessly pursued his passions and lived life to the fullest. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
