

Monica Stevens Webb died peacefully on December 18, 2013. Monica was born on September 30, 1922 in the Homerton section of London, England to the late Percy Edgar Stevens and Annie Ward Stevens. She grew up in the Forest Gate section of London where her father ran a pub, the "Golden Horse." During World War II, she served in the British Royal Air Force. During that time, she met and married Edwin Yates Webb, an American serviceman stationed in England before D-Day.
After moving to Charlotte following the war, she spent much of her working career as a photo developer with B&H Photo and Doecap Studio. She finished her working career in the Mecklenburg County tax office. After retirement, she enjoyed reading, knitting, and spending time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband and a sister who died before Monica's birth. She is survived by a son, Barry Webb of Charlotte; a grandson, Ian Webb and his wife Suzyn Smith Webb of McLean, Virginia; a granddaughter, Hillary Fulghum, her husband Hogan Fulghum, and great-granddaughter Lily Grace Fulghum of Charlotte; and the grand children's mother, Leigh Caskey Webb of Charlotte.
The family wishes to express its sincere gratitude to the staff of Summit Place of South Park and Hospice & Palliative Care of Charlotte. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care, 1420 East Seventh Street, Charlotte, NC 28204.
A private family graveside service will be held at Sharon Memorial Park, where Monica will be buried next to her husband.
