

Myrt, age 85, died Friday, June 8, 2012 at Brookdale Place of South Charlotte. Born April 4, 1927 in Johnston Co., NC, she was the daughter of the late John Irvin Whitley and Annie Carroll Whitley.
Myrt began studying art in 1966. She was known for her landscapes, flowers and birds. Myrt worked in both oil and watercolor. Her work had been shown in various places in Charlotte, including UNCC and Queens University. Photography was another of Myrt’s artistic talents. When she saw a beautiful scene or flowers in bloom, she would often transfer her photographic image to canvas or paper. Myrt’s artist’s eye also carried over to flower arranging. Her floral arrangements were enjoyed by congregation of Albemarle Road Presbyterian Church. Her love of beauty was evident in her paintings, photography and floral arrangements.
The service to celebrate the life of Myrtle “Myrt” Whitley Lambert will be held 11:30 AM Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at Albemarle Road Presbyterian Church with her pastor of many years, Reverend Ron Tippens, officiating. Interment will follow in Charlotte Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church thirty minutes prior to the service.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Jini and Wayne Bedser of Greenville, SC and Julie and Mike McCall of Fort Mill, SC; two sisters, Ruth Martin and Eva Perkins; four grandchildren, Sky Cadieu, Summer McCall, Becky Drake and Raven Lambert; and seven great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Myrt was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Lambert, Jr.; son, Scott Lambert; and five siblings.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Presbyterian Hospice and Brookdale Place of South Charlotte for their kindness and compassionate care.
