Nancy Smith

Nancy Shidal Smith, 83, of Charlotte, N.C., has ended her long battle with Alzheimer’s and is now with God in eternal bliss. Born in Lincolnton, NC. on June 4, 1939, to the late Horace and Prue Shidal, she lived a full life as a devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Educator.

Nancy was an educator for over 30 years, most notably teaching in Charlotte for 23 years at Providence Day School. She was very active in her church and community as an ambassador for Room at the Inn, and many other volunteer roles at Quail Hollow Presbyterian Church; she even received the “Honorary Life Member in the Presbyterian Women of the Church.” Nancy’s giving nature touched everyone she encountered throughout her life.

Nancy is preceded by her husband, John Allen Smith and sister Mary Nell Fisher. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law Christopher and Christine Smith and two grandsons Dillon and Justin Smith.

A joint memorial service for both Nancy and her husband, Allen Smith, deceased August 14, 2021, will be held Saturday, July 9th at 2:00 p.m. at Quail Hollow Presbyterian Church.
