Nona Jim Koon Latane'

Mrs. Latane’, age 89, of Charlotte, died Friday, April 15, 2011 at Presbyterian Hospital - Main. Born September 11, 1921 in Rutherford County, NC, she was a daughter of the late James Aaron Koon and Nona Jim Searcy Koon. After thirty years of service, Mrs. Latane’ retired from Delmar Publishing as a master printer. She was a member of Derita Baptist Church for fifty-five years.

The service to celebrate the life of Nona Jim Koon Latane’ will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, April 17, 2011 at McEwen Funeral Service - Derita Chapel with The Reverend Tom Daigle, officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home.

Survivors include two children, Nona Carneal Crowe of Monroe, GA and James Binford Latane’ of Washington, NC; three grandchildren, James Carneal Crowe, Nona Kathryn Crowe and Jon Binford Latane’; and four siblings, Joe Koon, Herbert Koon, Dorcus Bennett and Steve Koon; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Latane’ was preceded in death by her husband, Binford Carneal Latane’; and four siblings.
