

Jean and her late husband, Gibbs Burns Taylor, made their home in the Steele Creek community of Charlotte, North Carolina, where they lived for more than 70 years and built a life filled with faith, family, and friendship.
Jean was a graduate of Latta High School. During her working years, she spent a large part of her career with Duff Norton in Charlotte. While she valued her work, her greatest joy was caring for her family. She was known as loving homemaker who excelled as a gracious host and an exceptional cook. Her home was always a place where family and friends felt welcomed and loved.
Jean was active in her church and deeply devoted to her faith. She also enjoyed tending to her beautiful flower garden and spending time with friends in her bridge club. These simple pleasures brought her great happiness throughout her life.
Jean was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 70 years, Gibbs Burns Taylor, her son, Stephen Burns Taylor, and her siblings Ruby Leeson, Muriel Harris, Norma Branch,Terrell Crowley, and Helen Rosalie Crowley.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter, Lynn Taylor Rumfelt and her husband Max, daughter-in-law Deborah Taylor, and her brother-in-law Ray Branch.
Jean was a proud grandmother to Caroline Taylor and her husband West Hubard, grandson's Jacob Rumfelt, Adam Rumfelt and his wife Hannah, and Matthew Rumfelt and his fiance Amber Brown.
She was also blessed with great- grandchildren Hawkes Hubard and Isla Hubard.
In addition, Jean is survived by several loving nieces and nephews , including Jean Shultz (John, deceased), Joyce and Gary Baker, Larry and Cindy Gaile, Beth Branch, Pam Branch, Scott Branch, John Harris (Beth), and Sherrie Woodwell(deceased) (Grant) living.
Jean was the last of five siblings and remained grateful throughout her life for the comfort she received from her faith, her family, and her many dear friends.
Her legacy of kindness, hospitality, and devotion to those she loved will forever be remembered.
The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00 pm on Thursday, March 5, at McEwen Funeral Service-Pineville Chapel, with the funeral service following at 1:00 pm in the chapel. A committal service will take place at 2:00 pm at Steele Creek Presbyterian Church at Pleasant Hill following the funeral service.
