

Pauline Ann Payne, 92, passed away peacefully at home on December 26. She was born in Podhorod, Slovakia and lived most of her life in the New York metropolitan area and in New Jersey. She spent the last sixteen years of her life in Charlotte.
Pauline was the daughter of the late Paul and Anna Tirpak of Glen Lyon, PA and was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Payne, in 1984. She will forever be remembered by her devoted sister, Rose Wollum, San Diego, CA and her brother, John Tirpak, Colonia, N.J. Pauline is survived by her her son Robert F. Payne (Susan) of Charlotte; daughter, Maureen Lewis (Morgan), Dallas, PA; grandchildren Robert M. Payne, Charlotte; Lauren E. Payne, Boone, NC; Megan Lewis Tummelson (Jeffrey), Portland, OR; and Morgan Lewis, Jr. (Sara), Selinsgrove, PA.
Pauline was a communicant at St. Matthew Roman Catholic Church and always looked forward to the regular luncheon meetings held at both the Levine Senior Center and Matthews United Methodist Church. She will be remembered for her richly textured stories, quick wit and abiding dedication to her family and pets.
Donations may be made in her name to the Charlotte Humane Society for their outstanding service to the community.
The Service of Rememberance for Pauline will be private. There will be no calling hours.
