Perry Simpson Sloope

Mr. Sloope, age 83, a long-time resident of Charlotte, passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2011 at Wilora Lake Health Care Center. Born August 2, 1927 in Mooresville, he was the son of the late Allie Jerome Sloope and Maude Beaver Sloope. He graduated from Landis High School. Mr. Sloope retired from Crown Honda after a career of over 50 years in auto sales and management.

He enjoyed playing golf, traveling and spending time with his family and friends. Mr. Sloope’s strong belief in the Lord led him to become an active member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. Since joining the church in 1958, he served in many leadership positions including Church Council, Sunday School Superintendent and Usher. He loved his church and served with his heart and soul until he completed his time on earth and began his eternal life

with his Lord.

The service to celebrate the life of Perry Simpson Sloope will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, April 10, 2011 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church with The Reverend Dr. Nancy Kraft, officiating. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall one hour prior to the funeral service. The graveside service will be held 11:00 AM Monday at Carolina Memorial Park, Concord.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Elvie Hipps Sloope; four sons, Alan Sloope of Charlotte, Kim Sloope and wife, Linda, of Alpharetta, GA, David Sloope and wife, Diane, of Harrisburg and Jeffrey Sloope of Papillion, NE; former daughter-in-law, Faye Sloope of Charlotte; four grandchildren, Jamie Honeycutt and husband, Cliff, of Indian Trail, Jennifer Sloope and Megan Sloope of Harrisburg and Evan Sloope of Papillion, NE; three great grandchildren, Alston, Colson and Brooklynn of Indian Trail; sister, Margaret Sechler and husband, Harold, of Kannapolis; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends.
