Phyllis is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Sarah Heisler; son, Robert, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Veronica; and her “second son,” Jeff Lovelace (Grace). She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Bob; her brother, John Cramer, Jr.; her father, John Cramer; her mother, Ruth Cramer; and her special friend, George Lovelace.
Born on June 3,1945, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Phyllis graduated from Asbury College in Kentucky with a degree in English. It was there that she met her college sweetheart and future husband, Bob. The two built a beautiful life together – first in Vestal, NY, where Sarah and Rob were born, then in Charlotte, North Carolina where they lived for 30 years. Phyllis delighted in tutoring, caring for children, and spending cherished time with both her family and her church family.
In 2008, Phyllis and Bob retired to Cape Coral, FL, where they remained deeply involved in their church community. After Bob’s passing in 2015, Phyllis moved back to the Charlotte area to be closer to friends, family, and her church home, where she rekindled many treasured relationships.
Phyllis lived her life as a devoted servant to the Lord. She participated in mission trips both within the United States and abroad, taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, served on the church board, volunteered at concession stands, and gave her heart to youth and senior ministries such as the J.O.Y. Club and Prime Timers. No matter where she lived, she poured her energy into serving others and sharing God’s love.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Pineville Church of the Nazarene at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 4, 2025 in the church sanctuary; 8614 Pineville-Matthews Rd. in South Charlotte. Family will receive friends immediately following the service.
In honor of Phyllis’ late husband, Bob, the family requests that memorial donations be made to The American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.
