

Raymond, age 68, passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2011. Born September 21, 1943 in Worcester, Massachusetts, he was a son of the late Paul Raymond and Dora Hebert St. Martin. His family moved to Patterson NY when he was four years old. Ray graduated from Carmel High School and attended Dutchess Community College. Following college, Ray joined the New York National Guard and served six years and was awarded an Expert Rifle Commendation.
After nearly ten years with JP Stevens in New York, Ray established his remodeling and carpentry business, P&R Carpentry in New York and then Creative Carpentry in Charlotte. In 1994, he went to work for Matthews Building Supply in their woodworking shop. He was employed there until his retirement in 2006 due to ill health. Ray did not have an engineering degree, but was a talented carpenter who could conceptualize carpentry projects with ease.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Theresa “Terry” Raffa St. Martin; siblings, Philip John St. Martin and his wife, Beth and Clarice St. Martin Locke and her husband, Jack, all of Charlotte; nieces and nephews, Kristin J. St. Martin, Paul Jon St. Martin, Gregory St. Martin, Erik St. Martin and his wife, Trina, Wayne Locke and his wife, Ruth, Glen Locke and his wife, Laurie Beth, Fran McGuirt and her husband, Randall, Terry Gandolfo, Lawrence Gusmano and his wife, Suzi, Lawrence Garris and Debbie Taurone and her husband, Paul; and many great and great-great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Arthur St. Martin; and a nephew, Paul Jon St. Martin.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated 10:30 AM Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church with Father Frank O’Rourke, Celebrant. Interment will be in Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Following the services, a reception will be held at the home of Phil and Beth St. Martin.
