Raymond William Waites Sr.

Raymond William Waites, Sr., died Wednesday, August 7. 2013 at his home in Charlotte . Born in Youngstown, Ohio on November 15, 1936, he was the son of the late Arthur Raymond Waites and Helen Stein Waites.

Raymond was a veteran of the Air Force serving 4 years of active duty and 4 years of inactive duty. He worked as an electronic technician at various companies in the Charlotte area for many years and later opened his own electronics business which he ran for 10 years.

He was a 3 year past president of the Metrolina Electronic Service Dealers Association in Charlotte and received a certified technician award each year for more than 20 years. He was honored to have received his CET certificate (Certified Electronic Technician). Raymond enjoyed his career in electronics and completed many projects which included adapting lights to music.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Raymond William Waites, Jr; brothers, Blaine W. Waites, Arthur R. Waites and sister, Ruth Huey.

He was a loving, caring and dedicated, husband, father grandfather and brother. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 57 years, Peggy Jonas Waites; daughters, Terry Matthews and husband, Mike, Elaine Cerrato and husband Norlan, Debbie Triplett and husband, Randy; grandchildren, Melissa Hammonds, Michael Matthews, Ryan Matthews and wife Sarah, April Davis and husband, Matt, Rachel Nichols and husband, Josh, great granddaughter, Kynlee Brooke Nichols and sister, Elaine Zimmerman.,

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, August 17, 2013 in The Paul Helton Chapel of Forest Lawn West. The family will receive friends following the service .
