Richard “Rick” Boatwright of Charlotte, North Carolina passed away unexpectedly on January 23, 2023, at the age of 60.
Rick was a skilled carpenter, a good friend, a loyal son, a lover of music, and a homespun philosopher. He was quick with a kind word and an easy smile. He had a quirky sense of humor, a strong faith, and an open heart. He was proud of his creations and his constructions with wood, but, if he were with us here today, he would be quick to share that he was MOST proud of his children and his grandchildren. They were his light through the fog.
Rick is survived by two sons, Richard Boatwright and Rodney Boatwright, both from China Grove; and two daughters, Lindsay Vaughn of China Grove and Alissea Shine Boatwright of Charlotte. His much beloved grandchildren include Chloe Hill, Macy Vaughn, Mason Barnes, and Emily Barnes. Each made an already-bright smile, even brighter. He is also survived by his mother, Dawn Auten of Charlotte; his sister, Marie Taylor of Huntersville; brothers, Robert “Bob” Boatwright (Concord), Randy Boatwright (Waxhaw), and Ron Boatwright (Colleyville, Texas). He is preceded in passing by his oldest brother, Roger Boatwright.
His children invite you to a service in Rick’s honor to be held at McEwen – Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Road, Charlotte, North Carolina, at 2:00 pm on Friday, February 3rd.
Condolences may be offered at www.McEwenPinevilleChapel.com.
