In his earlier adult years, Rick worked in the music industry with Pickwick then MCA Records, which included his meeting and assisting many rock, country and blues musicians. He later worked in real estate then tutored students at his wife’s private school, Manus Academy, where he voted himself “teacher-of-the-year” every year.
In his younger years, Rick loved dancing, bowling and playing golf. In his later years, he continued to enjoy talking with friends, reading, laughing for the sake of laughing and trying to get a rise out of people, which he always succeeded in doing. He was tender and tough, sweet and sour and full of nonsense yet straight to the point.
Rick loved his family and friends and was always ready to support them in their time of need. He embraced his inner grumpy old man, gave full expression to his opinions and often tired himself from being right all the time.
Rick leaves behind Rosanne, his wife of forty years; his daughter and son-in-law, April and Tom Arnett; his grandsons, Joseph and Michael Arnett; and his nieces and nephews. We all loved him for the truly unique person he was. We will miss him and look forward to seeing him again.
A memorial celebration of life for Richard will be held Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at 1:00 PM at McEwen Funeral Home - Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Rd., Charlotte, NC 28210.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.McEwenPinevilleChapel.com for the Manus family.
