

Richard Peter Martin, born in Warwick, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2025, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family. He was 73 years old. A longtime resident of Long Island, New York, and more recently of Charlotte, North Carolina, Richard lived a life rooted in hard work, devotion to family, and a deep appreciation for the outdoors.
Richard (Dick) is survived by his loving partner Nora Johnson, his children: Deirdre Yack and her husband Christopher, Evan Richard Martin and his wife Tracy, and Daniel Peter Martin and his wife Lisa. He will be lovingly remembered by Nora’s family as well, including Meghan and Grady Farmer, Joseph and Lauren Johnson, as well as Brian and Lauren Johnson. His memory will be cherished by all their grandchildren: Chloe and Hannah Yack; Avrie Anna, Jared, Jill, and Jake Martin; as well as Keegan and Patrick Farmer.
He is also survived by his beloved mother, Jeanette Martin; his siblings David (Kathy), Nancy Martin, Betty (Donald) Kingston and sister-in-law Cheryl Martin as well as a large extended family of nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews and cousins near and far who will miss him dearly. Richard was predeceased by his father, Norman Joseph Martin, and his brother, Robert Leo Martin.
A general contractor by trade and the founder of Richard P. Martin Construction Corporation, Richard dedicated over five decades to building homes across Long Island. His work left a lasting mark on the community and touched the lives of many. His dedication, craftsmanship, and strong work ethic were hallmarks of his professional life.
Beyond his work, Richard found joy in the great outdoors. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and beach-lover, as well as a long-time member of the 100 Rod and Gun Club. A passionate collector of classic cars, he took pride in preserving the beauty and history of the automobiles he loved.
Richard’s life was rich with love, laughter, and a strong sense of family. His kindness, hard-work, integrity and playful spirit leave behind a legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Saturday, August 30, 2025 at 9:30 am at the Church of St. Lawrence the Martyr located at 27 Handsome Avenue in Sayville, New York.
