Richard Dewitte Stroupe

Dick was born April 5, 1936 in Charlotte, North Carolina, son of the late Fred Hirst Stroupe, Sr. and Florabell Dean Hawkins Stroupe. He attended Myers Park High School and worked as a machinist in Charlotte. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Ann Tucker; his sisters, Joan Stroupe Hoover and Bobbie Jo Stroupe Stith; and brother, Fred H. “Bubba” Stroupe Jr.

Survivors include his sister, Carolyn Stroupe Helms; son, Richard “Rick” Dewitte Stroupe and wife Susan; son, Daniel Royster Stroupe and his wife Teresa; and daughter, Anna Stroupe Nichols and her husband Dwight; as well as seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Dick was a devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his family and had a special fondness for his grandchildren.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 6th at Harry & Bryant’s Chapel in the Oaks, 500 Providence Road. Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 12:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
