An accomplished artist, Rita received a BS degree in Art Education from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa and furthered her studies at UNC-Chapel Hill and NC State University, as well as Queens and Winthrop Universities.
Rita’s art career was varied, including commissions for the U.S. Coast Guard HQ, the U.S. Naval Institute and NASA HQ. She was also the owner of Willow Reed Studios in Charlotte.
Rita is survived by two daughters, Sheryl Scott Hutchison and Laura Scott, and a grandson, Jonathan Palm.
A service will be held Saturday, May 25th at 1:00 pm from the graveside in Forest Lawn East Cemetery in Matthews.
