Robert Toering Duxbury, a longtime resident of Montgomery, AL, expired on October 7, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents George William and Jessie Theodora Duxbury, sister Theodora Seifried (William), two sons Jonathan Wayne and Brian Christopher Duxbury.
He is survived by the love of his life Joy-Sims Duxbury; daughters Robin Duxbury of Boulder, CO, Lynda Knobel (Robert) of Weddington, NC, and Christine Edwards (George) of Baily, CO; one sister Joan Toering Schneider (George); five grandchildren Jarrad Duxbury, Robert H. Knobel, Alexandria Duxbury, Matthew Sims Knobel and Christopher Duxbury; three great grandchildren and three nieces.
Mr. Duxbury, a veteran of World War II, served with the 327th Glider Infantry in Normandy, Holland, Ardennes and in Germany. He was a life member of the V.F.W. DAV and the 101st Airborne Division Association.
His business career consisted of traveling nationwide as a management consultant, followed by working for the State of Georgia in the office of the Governor. The last 15 years of his business career he worked for the State of Alabama in the Public Service Commission from which he retired in 1995. He will be inurned in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
