He was a proud U.S. Air Force veteran with an honorable discharge, serving in the Korean War. He received the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He retired from the General Electric Company, industrial sales division, after 30 years. After retirement, he enjoyed being a floor manager/supervisor at McDonald's restaurant, bringing smiles to many patrons (all while enjoying numerous quarter pounders with cheese)! He served in various church roles at Calvary Church of Charlotte, North Carolina, some being on the elder board, hospital visitation, and choir member. He later was also a choir member at Carmel Baptist Church.
Arthur is preceded in death by his parents and one sister. He is survived by his wife, June Faulk Kelly, his high school sweetheart, and devoted spouse of 69 years. He is also survived by his three children - Rhonda Turner, Daphne Metzger, and Pastor Damon Kelly. From those children are eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He has one surviving sister.
We know Arthur/Dad/Didaddy is now enjoying "happy trails" in glory which was always his parting words to us when we would go our separate ways. The family wishes to express our heartfelt gratitude for the exceptional and compassionate care Arthur received at Aldersgate's Asbury Rehab and long-term skilled nursing, as well as Firstlight Homecare of Greater Charlotte and Hospice and Palliative Care of Charlotte.
"For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." II Timothy 4:6-7 He is loved by family and friends. He will be missed.
