Robert Charles Rogers

Robert Charles Rogers "Bob", 83, of Pineville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 7, 2016. Bob was born in Marion, SC on December 31, 1932, the son of the late Howard and Monie Rogers. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Eiko Matsumoto Rogers in 2015. Bob served in the United States Army the Korean War as a Master Sergeant in the CIC. He retired from Norfolk Southern Railway after 45 years. He was the depot agent of Pineville for many years. Recently, he retired from Adesa Corporation after 20 years. Bob is survived by his daughters Linda Rogers of Pineville, Judy Lester and husband Jay of Chapel Hill, and Tammy Dial and husband Ron of Lumberton, and his four wonderful grandchildren James Lester III and Bidney Anne Lester of Chapel Hill, Linda Renee Dial and Mea Matsumoto Dial of Lumberton, sister, Julia Edwards of Marion, SC and brother Howard Rogers, Jr. of Marion, SC and a number of nieces and nephews also survive him. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 pm Friday, February 12, 2016, at Grace Life Church of Pineville, NC (formerly Stough Memorial Baptist). Visitation will immediately follow the service. A graveside service will be held at Shiloh United Methodist Church in Marion, SC at 1:00 pm Saturday, February 13th, 2016. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to Grace Life Church of Pineville Children's Ministry or First Baptist Church of Stanfield NC Children's Ministry.
