It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert Tate Rust, Sr. - a cherished son, father, husband, and respected member of the community. Born in Charlotte, NC, Tate was a proud West Mecklenburg High School graduate who left an indelible mark on the lives of those around him.
Tate's dedication to soccer and coaching defined a significant part of his life, shaping countless young athletes under his guidance. Beyond the field he excelled in the HVAC industry, leaving behind a legacy of professional accomplishments.
Known for his quick wit and infectious sense of humor, Tate brought laughter and joy to every room he entered. His grandkids affectionately called him "Pops," a testament to the warmth and love he shared with each of them.
Tate is survived by his loving parents TC and Phyllis, and his brothers Chris and David. He was a devoted husband to Beth and a nurturing father to his sons Tate Jr. (Emily) and William (Katy). His role as a grandfather brought him immense joy, and he leaves behind cherished memories with grandchildren Shepherd, Amelia, Henry, and Madelyn.
The Rust family will greet friends from 10:00 AM on January 4th, 2024. A memorial service will follow at Sunset Road Baptist Church on January 4 at 11:00 AM, where friends and family will come together to celebrate the life of a remarkable man who touched the hearts of many. May he rest in peace and may his legacy of laughter and love continue to inspire us all. In honoring Tate's memory, the family kindly requests donations, in lieu of flowers, to Levine-Dickson Hospice House and Sunset Road Baptist Church, reflecting his commitment to the well-being of others and his spiritual connection.
