

Robert Joseph Schiavone, 70 of Charlotte, NC peacefully passed away December 14th 2025, surrounded by his family after a courageous 2-year battle with esophageal cancer. He was born in Chicago, IL on December 9, 1955, to the late Eileen Jean nee Seppi and the late Robert Michael Schiavone. He was a loving husband, dedicated father, cherished grandfather, caring brother and uncle. He is survived in death by his wife of 46 years, Debra Ann nee Pawlicki, his sons, Stephen Robert and Mark Jeffrey (Lauren), and his grandson, Sebastian Blair. He leaves behind siblings William (Carol), Nancy, and James (Lisa).
Robert attended South Main High School, Illinois Benedictine College and received a PHD in Chemistry and Macromolecular Science and Engineering from the University of Michigan. He was proud to have been granted numerous patents over the course of his career and spent over two decades as a co-founder and vice president of Polytech Resources.
Throughout his lifetime, his gardening hobby eventually resulted in the formation of Nonni Schiavone Foods, a specialty food company. There he thrived creating new products and embracing community at local farmers markets and regional events.
Robert enjoyed travelling both domestically and internationally, being particularly fond of the North Carolina Coast. He was a history buff and had great interest in researching his family’s rich ancestry and reading historical books. He loved the canines he raised throughout his lifetime and was a connoisseur of great food, always excited to try a different restaurant with his family.
A celebration of Robert’s life will be held Saturday April 18th at 10am at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Hillside IL, followed by internment in the Schiavone Family plot. In lieu of flowers please consider donations to the American Cancer Society.
