

Robert Stanley, age 100, of Monroe, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2026. Born on April 25, 1926, Robert lived a long and meaningful life rooted in family, hard work, and service to others.
Originally from Tampa, Florida, later Syracuse, New York (where he lived for many years) and then moved to Monroe, NC. Robert was known by all who loved him as a loyal, hardworking, and honest man. He took pride in being himself and was admired for his strength of character, wisdom, and genuine spirit.
Robert enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life, especially baseball, softball, walking, working on cars, blacktopping, and coaching. He was also active in his community and affiliations, including Blessed Assurance Adult Daycare Center, Clear Path for Veterans, and Syracuse Honor Flight 13.
Above all, Robert treasured his family.
He leaves behind his loving children; Brenda Joyce Stanley, of California, Melissa Stanley of Charlotte, NC, Rose Tillman of Syracuse, NY, Stacey Caquais of Raleigh, NC. Tynise Ward of Monroe, NC, Ellison Stanley of Charlotte, NC and Iris Gibbs of Raleigh. He was a proud grandfather to 22 grandchildren and was also blessed with a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren who will continue to cherish his memory.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Stanley; his son, Robert Stanley Jr.; and Bernard Stanley.
He will be remembered most for simply being himself, a man whose honesty, loyalty, humor, and hardworking nature touched everyone around him.
