
Roderick G. McDonald, 82, of Charlotte, was called into the presence of his Lord and Savior on November 4, 2011, after a short illness. He was born in Ironton, Michigan on March 1, 1929 to John and Maude Isabelle Coole McDonald.
Rod graduated from Michigan Technological University, and worked as a mining engineer and superintendent in Minnesota, Virginia, and Kentucky. He enjoyed a long retirement in Charlotte, NC.
Rod was preceded in death by his wife, Lavalette Virginia Tabor. He is survived by his daughter, Mary Lydia Dougherty and husband, Richard; his son, Stephen Timothy McDonald and wife, Heather Hubler; grandsons, Jesse Michael McDonald, Andrew Josiah McDonald, and Mackenzie Luke Dougherty; granddaughter, Hannah Louise McDonald; and sister, Donelda DeJong of Wisconsin.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 7, 2011 at Evergreen Cemetery.
