Rose was born on March 9, 1957, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to the late Francis J. Laughlin and Alice E. Wilkinson Laughlin. She was a woman of intelligence, quiet strength, and deep curiosity about the world around her.
Rose dedicated 34 years of honorable service to the Central Intelligence Agency, where she rose to the position of Deputy Chief before retiring in November 2015. Her career reflected her commitment to duty, integrity, and excellence. Though her professional life required discretion, those closest to her knew she took great pride in serving her country.
Outside of her work, Rose found joy in traveling and reading. She appreciated learning about new places, cultures, and stories, and she carried that thoughtful spirit into her everyday life. She valued peace, knowledge, and meaningful conversation, and she lived with humility and grace.
She is survived by her loving sister, Linda Laughlin.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her uncle, Charles Laughlin, who served in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in the 1980s.
Rose will be remembered for her dedication, her intelligence, and her quiet kindness. Her presence brought steadiness and warmth to those who knew her, and she leaves behind a legacy of service and integrity.
There will be no visitation or services. A private burial will take place at Divine Redeemer Cemetery located in Pennsylvania.
