

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jimmy and Bill, and by five sisters,Thelma, Polly, Ella Bann, Elizabeth and Nancy.
Harry Campbell served our country well in the Army's Battery B, 113th Field Artillery Battalion of the 30th Old Hickory Division. His tour of duty, beginning in 1940, took him to Scotland, Wales, England, France and Germany. He received his honorable discharge on June 17, 1945. He always said he was so lucky to be able to come home when thousands died in the war against Germany.
His work history began with Curtis Candy Company, followed by Merita Bakeries, CB Drug Company, Rex Knitting Mill, Leslie Fay Knitting Mill, Highlander Knitting Mill, Genesco and Plaza Men's Store. He was devoted to his wife and family, as well as being a faithful church member. He had a passion for golf in which he received 3 hole-in-ones over his lifetime. He also enjoyed vacationing at the beach and in the mountains with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Betty Sue Johnson Campbell, and two daughters, Virginia Lynn King of Winston-Salem, NC and Pamela Gibson and husband Glen of Lancaster, SC. Survivors also include three grandchildren, Lisa Smiley and husband Mark, Charles King and wife Shannon, and Kelly Shue, and three great-grandchildren, Stuart Smiley, Courtney Shue and Alec Shue.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2013 in the Chapel of Harry & Bryant, 500 Providence Rd., Charlotte, with the Reverend Michael Cummings and Pastor Mark Harris officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Interment at Forest Lawn East Cemetery will be private prior to the service.
