Rene was born in Charlotte, North Carolina, one of five children of Vernon and Betty Bobo. She attended West Charlotte high school and Roane State Community College in Tennessee. After marrying Ron English, she moved to Texas and raised two children, Tate and Sarah.
She considered motherhood to be the most important thing she ever did. She did her best to make sure her children and grandchildren felt loved, protected, and accepted. She loved to spend time with her "grandbabies," Jane and Ethan Wilcox.
She was an artist of amazing ability, she could portray beauty with a pencil or with paint. She loved music and had a beautiful singing voice. She loved to watch baseball games. She was an avid gardener and spent much of her time outdoors. Flowers bloomed when she was around.
Rene touched the lives of many and she will be missed. She is survived by her husband Ron English; her children Tate English and Sarah Wilcox; her grandchildren Jane and Ethan Wilcox; her parents Vernon and Betty Bobo; her siblings Sonya Flores, Dianna Bobo, Eddie Bobo, and Glenn Bobo; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and family members; and many, many friends. Each of them helped her to create a beautiful life, and while it is hard to say goodbye, we rejoice in the goodness that she brought to each of us.
Because she loved being a mother and taking care of children so much, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her name to the March of Dimes.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, August 29, 2013 in the Paul Helton Chapel of Forest Lawn West Funeral & Cremation Service. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service in Forest Lawn West Cemetery.
