Stephen Edward Ertel

Charlotte - Stephen Ertel, 52, passed away June 25, 2018 at his home in Charlotte. He was born on November 24, 1965 in Charlotte, the son of Thomas H. Ertel and the late Elizabeth Wiggins Ertel (Betsey). He graduated from South Mecklenburg High School in 1984. Steve worked for his father at Ertel Construction for 21 years as a supervisor and moved on to other ventures. He loved cars, fishing, and animals.

Steve is survived by his father, Thomas Ertel of Charlotte; brothers, Sean Ertel of Charlotte and Chad Ertel of Portland, Oregon; sister, Jenna Hall (Jessie); niece, Amelia of Raleigh; uncle, Richard (Terry) Ertel; and cousins, Beth and Brian Lee and Chris and Kristin Ertel.

Funeral services will be held at 4 pm on Friday, June 29th, at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, 1510 East Seventh St. Charlotte, NC. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.

Interment will be 12 pm Saturday, June 30th, at Mt. Tirzah Church Cemetery in Timberlake, NC.
