Steve was born on October 10, 1943, in Beacon, New York. He spent his formative years in Cold Spring, New York where he graduated from Haldane Central School District. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force. There he earned an Associate's Degree in Business Administration. Throughout his professional career Steve held the position of Human Resources Director for several manufacturing companies in the Charlotte, NC area. He was known for his hard work, dedication, and passion for helping others.
In his free time Steve enjoyed spending time with family, doing yardwork, and giving back to his community. He was always eager to share his knowledge and enthusiasm with others. He was an active member of Pineville United Methodist Church for forty-six years and the Founder/President of the Park Ridge Homeowners Association.
But more than anything, Steve was the best husband, father, and grandfather ever. He loved to spend time with his wife, children, and grandchildren offering unconditional love, guidance, support, and encouragement no matter what challenges any one of them faced. His love of life was contagious and he was our fierce protector.
Steve is survived by his dedicated and loving wife, Janice L. Jankowski, children, Dawn M. Childers and Christine A. Burk, grandchildren Kellen S. Childers, Collin R. Burk, and Alexis G. Burk, and sons-in-law Lee Childers and Steven Burk. He is also survived by his brother Richard Jankowski and sister Barbara Shirley. He was preceded in death by his father Stephen A. Jankowski and mother Helen Jankowski.
Steve was an extremely unique soul and had a very distinctive sense of humor. For those of us who had the privilege of knowing him, our lives have been irrevocably changed for the better. His missing physical presence will be agonizingly painful. However, his legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of all that he touched.
His service will be held at Pineville United Methodist Church located at 110 South Polk Street in Pineville on Friday, July 25th, 2025 at 1pm.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Steve's name to Pineville United Methodist Church.
