Sydney Boone Gaylord

Sydney, 35, of Charlotte, passed away Monday, August 29, 2011 at Carolinas Medical Center, concluding a two and a half year battle with brain cancer.

She was born April 13, 1976 in High Point, NC, daughter of Robert Paul Boone, Jr. and Sarah Frances Mendelson Boone.

She graduated from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and lived in Charlotte, NC where she managed the ladies clothing store, Capitol, co-founded a jewelry design business, and touched the lives of hundreds of people as a friend, mother, and woman of deep faith. Her magnetic, vivacious, spontaneous and ultra-creative spirit will be dearly missed.

In addition to her parents, Sydney is survived by her husband, Todd Webb Gaylord; children, Vail, Mary Haven and Boone; brother, Robert Paul Boone, III and his wife, Sarah Smith Boone; father and mother-in-law, Richard Warren Gaylord, Jr. and Bonnie Webb Gaylord; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 1, 2011 at Christ Covenant Church in Matthews with Rev. Mark Upton officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Hope Community Church, 701 Scaleybark Road, Charlotte, NC 28209.

Burial will be private for the family.
