

Thelda R. Guy, 89, of Clover, SC, passed away on December 13, 2025. Born November 19, 1936 in Charlotte, NC, she was the daughter of the late Sidney and Essie (Simpson) Rhyne. For 68 years she was the wife of the late John Guy Jr.
Thelda graduated from West Mecklenburg High School, class of '55. She then worked for Arts & Engraving for numerous years.
She grew up attending Mulberry Presbyterian Church. After moving to Lake Wylie, SC, Thelda and John started traveling the country and attended many churches of different faiths where she sang in the church choir.
Thelda and John started taking their family camping when they were young, from tent to Air Stream camping. She was an active member in the Piedmont NC Airstream Club where she and John led numerous caravans to Alaska for three years. They traveled all over the United States with the Air Stream Club.
Thelda and John were snowbirds, living in Land Yacht Harbor Airstream Park, in Melbourne, FL. They were avid Western Square Dancers and members of the Y-Thunderbirds of Charlotte.
Many knew them for their love of Christmas, especially Thelda's collection of Snowbabies, Nutcrackers and Angels.
While all of us will miss her dearly, we are sure she and John are in Heaven walking the streets of gold. We all love you – Thelda, Mom, Granny and friend.
She is survived by her daughters, Lynn G. Russell (Gil) and Vickie G. Hudson (Keith); grandchildren, Bryan Hudson (Joyce), Jennifer Warren (Jason), Brandon Hudson (Misty) and Megan Ritchie (Chad). Thelda was blessed with 10 great-grandchildren: Kyndall Whitaker (Zack), Abigail Warren, Maya Hudson, Gracyn Allen, Stryker Warren, Kip Hudson, Dottie Hudson, Cooper Ritchie, Cora Ritchie and Cayman Warren.
In addition to her husband and parents, Thelda was preceded in death by her sister, Sadie Mae Rhyne; brothers, Sidney S. Rhyne and Merle Clayton Rhyne.
Funeral service 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 18, 2025 at McEwen Funerals & Cremation at Forest Lawn West, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte, NC. Visitation 12 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial in Forest Lawn West Cemetery. Fond memories may be shared at www.forestlawnwest.com
