

Vera Tichenor Ramseur died on Thursday, December 11, 2014, at her home in the Regency Retirement Village in Charlotte, NC.
She was born on October 11, 1924, in Hickory, NC, to the late Edwin Millard Tichenor and Leah Mae Kinney Tichenor.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Fred M. Ramseur, Jr.; her son, Fred M. (Freddie) Ramseur, III; and her sisters, Leah Kinney Hass and Katherine “Kitty” Lamborn.
Following graduation from school in Maiden, NC, she attended Lees- McRae College in Banner Elk, NC, and Clevenger’s Business School in Hickory, NC. She was instrumental in helping her husband complete college and Seminary to become a Lutheran minister. Together they served Lutheran churches in Hickory, Lincolnton, Charlotte, and Wilson, NC, before retiring 1980 to their family home on Lake Norman in Denver, NC.
During her working career she was secretary to the Senior Pastor of the Incarnation Lutheran Church in Columbia, SC., and admitting counselor at Carolinas Health Care Center main campus (formerly Charlotte Memorial Hospital). She also served as an officer in the National Women’s Organization of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (WELCA).
She was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Charlotte, NC.
Survivors include her son, David Ramseur, and wife, Nancy; granddaughter, Leah Collins, and husband, David; grandson, John David Ramseur, and wife, Asheley; and eight great grandchildren.
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, December 15, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. at the McEwen-Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Road, in Charlotte. The Reverend J.A. Harbinson and The Reverend Peter Brown will provide pastoral care. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to her funeral service. Burial will follow in the Maiden Municipal Cemetery in Maiden, NC.
The family would like to bear witness that Vera is with our Father in heaven and our Lord Jesus Christ whom she worshiped and served her whole life. They thank God for giving her to those of us who remain and look forward to seeing her again in heaven.
Her family also would like to thank Vera’s friends at the Cottages at Carolina Place and the Regency Retirement Village including the staff and caregivers at the Regency. Special thanks goes to Hospice and Palliative Care, Charlotte Region, for their loving care and friendship.
