As a teenager, he left his home of Alabama to join the U.S. Navy during WWII, serving on both the USS Elokomin and the USS Cadmus until 1947. While visiting his father in Charlotte, NC once returning to the states, he obtained a job with Duke Power Company, where he worked to achieve the position as Manager for Metering Operations for the Charlotte region. He retired from Duke Power with 37 years of service.
Bo proudly raised 5 children with his beloved wife, Betty, who preceded him in death just 2 days prior to their 66th anniversary. Their children, Eddie, Dianna, Glenn (Sherri), Rene’ and Sonya (Marcelo) blessed them with 12 grandchildren, who knew him as “Paw Paw Bobo;” Jennifer, Christopher, Alex, Ian, Jess, Travis, Heather, Josh, Tate, Sarah, Michael, Nique and 19 great-granchildren, Gabe, Isaac, Jovie, Alana, Ella, Troy, Wyatt, Mila, Payton, Willow, Liam, Jayden, Jane, Ethan, Colton, Kyndall, Kyren, Tristan and Vida with the 20th due in September.
In addition to his parents and wife, Betty, he was preceded in death by his sister, Catherine Dollar; brother, Thomas Bobo; an infant daughter; granddaughter, Jennifer Bobo and daughter, Rene’ English.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the excellent care provided by Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region, especially his nurse, Erin and aide, Kara.
We would also like to thank Chaplain “Chap” J.D. Parker for taking time from his busy schedule to visit, pray and support our father and our family.
