

“Tex”
Victor L. Ives, Jr. (Tex) formerly of Annapolis, and Pasadena, Maryland died on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at Presbyterian Hospital Main after a long illness. Tex was born at the U.S. Naval Academy Hospital on May 1, 1959 to Audrey Louise Middleton Ives and Victor Leon Ives, Sr. He attended public schools in Anne Arundel County. After graduating from high school he began his career in masonry. He worked for several large construction companies in the Baltimore-Washington metropolitan areas including Reliable Construction Company and Cherry Hill Construction Company on projects ranging from construction of runways at Baltimore-Washington and Dulles International Airports, parking lots for major regional malls and interstate overpasses. He also did brickwork for renovations on streets and sidewalks in historic Annapolis, Maryland. He took great pride in his work and enjoyed showing people the landscapes he helped to create. When he became disabled he moved to Charlotte to be with his son and sister and eventually attended Central Piedmont Community College.
Tex was predeceased by his Mother and Father, his sister Bonnie Anne Ives Lowe, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He is survived by his daughter, Audrey Nicole Ives of Pasadena, Maryland; his son Nicolas Tyler Ives (Katherine Knight), granddaughter Haley Jane Knight;, his sister Dr. Sallie Middleton Ives all from Charlotte; his brother Dr. Robert W. Ives and his family: wife Dr. Sujata Ives, daughters Raven V. Ives and Bryten M. Ives all of Arnold, Maryland.
Tex loved reading historical novels, gardening and fishing, but his declining health made it difficult to get outside. He also had a special dog friend, Rosie, who crawled into his bed and took over his bedroom, and his two cats, Slippy and Dracula entertained him with their antics.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM Thursday, September 26, 2013 at McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon Memorial Park, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28212.
