Viola Mae Gay, 80, died Sunday, November 18, 2012 at Levine & Dickson Hospice House. A daughter of the late Clyde Thomas Crump and Bertha Jeanette Helms Crump, she was born on March 11, 1932 in Charlotte. Mrs. Gay enjoyed visiting family at the beach and caring for her grandchildren.
A funeral to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00PM, Wednesday, November 21st at the Derita Chapel of McEwen Funeral Service with Pastor Phil Turner officiating. Interment will follow in Northlake Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 5:30PM to 7:30PM.
Mrs. Gay is survived by three sons, Thomas (Tommy) Gay, Jr., of Charlotte, Daniel (Danny) Gay (Gayle), of Charlotte, Robert (Bobby) Gay, of Conway, SC; a daughter Christine Gay, of North Myrtle Beach, SC; two sisters, Betty Phillips and Sue Phillips, both of Charlotte; a sister-in-law, Barbara Crump, of Charlotte; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and her special poodle Ginger.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gay was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, Thomas Nathaniel Gay and two brothers, Howard Crump and Earl Crump.
