
Virginia Brooks Butler, 90, of Charlotte, NC passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 26, 2011, after a short illness at Plantation Estates. She was born in Sylvester, GA on May 26, 1920 to the late W.M. and Alma Cochran Brooks. She was raised in Fernandina Beach, FL. Virginia was married on February 15, 1943 to the late John L. Butler.
Virginia moved to Charlotte in 1958 and became a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church, where she volunteered in the church office for 22 years. She also volunteered and served as Treasurer with ASID Designer House and Charlotte Symphony Guild. She was a member of Old Providence Racket and Swim Club and an avid tennis player.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband of Charlotte, her parents and sisters; Dorothy Wolters and Frances Lockwood of Fernandina Beach, FL.
She is survived by her sons; David Butler and his wife Georgia Capobianco of Rock Hill, SC and John and Mary Butler of Hickory, NC.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 29, 2011 at Plantation Estates, 733 Plantation Estates Drive, Matthews, NC.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The National Parkinson Foundation, Gift Processing Center, PO BOX 5018, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5018.
Harry and Bryant is serving the family of Mrs. Butler.
