Virginia Lynn Smith

Virginia (Ginny) Lynn Smith, age 76, of Charlotte, NC, passed away peacefully Thursday, October 12, 2023. Born October 30,1946 in Wilson, NC, Ginny was the daughter of the late Windell Britton and Emily Walls Smith.

Ginny is survived by her long-time companion, Sandra M. Francis; brother, Britt Smith and wife, Gwen of Charlotte NC; nephew, Matt Smith (Heather) of Apex NC; nieces, Jennifer Parrish (Brian), Ashley Smith of Charlotte NC; great-nieces, Sydney, Campbell and Caroline; great-nephews, Will and Sam.

Ginny previously worked in animal care, which she retired from Sharon Lakes Animal Hospital. She was a loving and warm-hearted person who loved her family and friends. She enjoyed playing golf, spending time at the beach, and was an avid reader. Ginny will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Ginny’s family would like to express their deep gratitude to the Novant Healthcare staff for their wonderful care and to neighbors and friends for their many acts of kindness and support during her illness.

A visitation will be held from 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM, Saturday, November 4, 2023, at McEwen Funeral Home, 10500 Park Road, Charlotte, NC 28210. A memorial service will follow at 1:00 PM.
