

Ed made his home in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he lived on Thayer Road since 1974. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Irene McQuain, and a loving father to his children: Edward Timothy McQuain of Charlotte, Michael McQuain Sr. of Charlotte, Rebecca Kilpatrick of LaPorte, Colorado, and Elizabeth Fish of Charlotte.
He was a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren and a great-grandfather to one great-grandchild. He is also survived by three step great-grandchildren and three step great-great-grandchildren. Ed was a devoted companion to his cat, Buddy.
Ed graduated from South High School in Akron, Ohio, and later attended the University of Akron. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1958 to 1962 as a quartermaster. During his service, he was stationed aboard the USS Noa, which participated in the recovery of Astronaut John Glenn following the first orbital spaceflight and was active during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Following his military service, Ed worked for General Tire & Rubber. He was also involved in his community, serving as a Boy Scout leader for Troop 77 in Charlotte, where he dedicated his time to mentoring young people.
In his personal life, Ed enjoyed collecting stamps and coins, a hobby he pursued with great interest and care.
Wallace Edward McQuain will be remembered for his service, dedication to family, and commitment to his community.
