Wayne Clifford Evans

Born in Hammond, Indiana on August 27, 1936, to Clifford Arnold and Sophia Ruth Evans, Wayne grew up in the Catholic church. Wayne was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus.

Wayne met and married the love of his life, Mary Ann Piatek Evans on November 8, 1958.

He graduated from Thornton Fractional Township High in 1954 and studied engineering at Purdue and business at Indiana Universities.

Wayne worked with Perfection Gear in Harvey, Illinois and moved his family to Florence, SC in 1969 with Perfection American (Darlington, SC). They then moved to Charlotte, NC were they lived for 43 years.

He retired a Director of Purchasing, CMP with Textron, Homelite Division in Gastonia, NC. One of Wayne's proudest accomplishments was to be Honorably discharged from the US Army Reserves as a Sargent, E-5 in 1962.

Wayne was preceded in death by his dear wife, Mary Ann (who passed away in 2005), brothers Richard (Nevada) and Donald (Florida).

He is survived by daughter, Cathy E Malcom (three daughters, one deceased) and son, David Wayne (one daughter), sister-in-law, Alice (Chip & Marty, Daina), and brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Phyllis Brunke (Mike & Tami), and Goddaughter, Debbie Reese, Joe.

The family would like to thank Charlotte Fire and Rescue Station 24 and Charlotte EMS for their professionalism and care.

A memorial service for Wayne will be held Tuesday, September 10, 2024 from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM at Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 6828 Old Reid Rd., Charlotte, NC 28210. Inurnment will be private at the church columbarium beside his wife of 48 years, Mary Ann.
