

Wil was born on June 9, 1933 in Panama City, Cologne, Panama, to Ester and Carl Higgins.
Wil was a loving father whose warmth and humor touched the lives of those he met. Wil survived the loss of his wife Belinda Higgins 25 years ago and was the father to Pamela Birchard, Carol Higgins (deceased), Sharon Flynn, Mike Higgins, Mary Higgins, and Rachel Murray. Wil was survived by eight grandchildren. Wil’s passion for golf, his career, and in his later years, his immediate family and friends defined his life and left a lasting impression on those who choose to accept him for the man he was.
Wil’s career path lead him to become an electrical designer, a construction project manager, and an innovative executive in the textile industry. He attended Virginia Polytechnic University prior to serving in the United States Army during the Korean War era. In his free time, Wil enjoyed dancing , golf, cooking and often shared this time with his family and friends. In Wil’s mature years he focused on Ti Chi classes, daily exercise, meet frequently with his Veteran buddies to share their stories and all carried great honor to support making America great again.
A celebration of life, graveside memorial service and a light lunch with friends and family will be held at McEwen Funeral Service, Sharon Memorial Park, 5726 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28212 on August 23, 2025 starting at 11:00 am.
