William Walton Conder, III (Pete), 72, of Charlotte died peacefully on May 6, 2021 at Novant (Presbyterian Main) Hospital. Born March 13, 1949, in Matthews, NC he was the son of the late William Walton Conder, II (Dub) and Margie Crabtree Conder. He was a graduate of Garinger High School, Class of 1968. He was employed by Harrelson Ford, Borough Lincoln Mercury, S&M Paint and Body, as well as other automobile service organizations. Pete was a member of Midwood Baptist Church where he was a Deacon.
Mr. Conder enjoyed NASCAR racing, camping, going to the beach, and having fun with his grandkids. He was the founder of the Southern Performance Ford Club (SPFC). Regarding NASCAR, he was a pit man for driver Wendell Scott. He was a member of the St. Andrew’s Masonic Lodge in Charlotte.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Pete will be held on Wednesday, May 12 at 2:00 p.m. at Midwood Baptist Church with Dr. Garry Baldwin officiating. Visitation will precede the service from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
Survivors include his wife Darlene Conder, sister Ramona Barnes, son William Walton Conder IV (Cam), daughter Kristina Michelle Conder, and step daughter Jennifer Mannies, and step son-in-law Daniel Mannies. He is also survived by grandsons Jun, Jen and Liam, step-grandson Jackson, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pete was preceded in death by his mother Margie Crabtree Conder and father William Walton Conder, II.
