William Morris Elam

Bill was born in Wise, Virginia. He was a graduate of Wise High School and West Virginia Business College. He attended Milligan College and the University of Virginia. He was a member of the Wise Lions Club and a Masonic Member of Hope Lodge #7. A veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U. S. Army, primarily with the 4th MASH in the European Theater. He retired in 1994 following 38 years of service in claims management with Bituminous Casualty Corp.

Survivors include his wife of 74 years, Bobbie, and son Joe, both of Charlotte, and granddaughter Brooke Elam Robbins and her husband Curtis Robbins, and their three daughters Evelyn, Eleanor and Amelia.

Bill was preceded in death by son, Scott and grandson Brandon. Bill was a member of Midwood Baptist Church and attended Central Church of God in Charlotte for many years.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, and will be missed by all who knew him.

The Funeral will be on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at 1 pm at McEwen Funeral Home - Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Rd., Charlotte, NC 28210. The family will receive guests from 11 am to 1 pm prior to the service. Internment will follow at Sharon Memorial Park, Charlotte, NC.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Central Church of God, Charlotte, North Carolina, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
