William Edward Smith, 89, of Charlotte, NC, died peacefully at his home on April 7, 2025. He was born to the late William Philmore Smith and Mary Lee Willis in Spruce Pine, NC. Because of his faith in Christ our Lord, he now dwells in his heavenly home graciously prepared for him by our Lord and Savior. Preceding him in death was his wife, Brenda Hefner Smith, and his son, William Michael Smith.
He is survived by his son, Tommy Dean Smith, of Charlotte; a brother, Richard Smith of Hickory, NC; and a sister, June Lowmon of Hickory, NC; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was a proud United States Navy Veteran. He was the owner/operator of E&G Alignment & Brake Service in Charlotte, and also worked at Carroll Aligning Service. He loved to read his Bible, hunting, fishing and riding his four-wheeler with his son.
Visitation will take place on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at McEwen Funeral Service, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC, beginning at 12:00 p.m. Funeral service will follow at 1:30 p.m. Mr. Smith will be laid to rest at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens.
