It has been written “The things you do for yourself are gone when you are gone but the things you do for others remain as your legacy.” 
I only knew Al personally for five magical summers.  He hired me after one interview, one meeting in Spring of 1969.  He had me spend a few weekends at the park getting adjusted to the life of the “concessionaire “ before graduation and the start of that first summer.  I spent that summer and the next four at his side and under his guidance.  It wasn’t much to the job as it was the presence of this kind and  gentle giant as he appeared to my 5’7 statue.  Al always appeared as interested in you and made you feel your story was interesting and important.  But oh, my he was the story teller.  I think I grew up during those five summers due to the trust, faith and guidance of a very special individual.  So I know it’s true based on my time with Al “the things you do for others remains your legacy.” 
You have left us a wonderful legacy.
Al may you continue to smile on your many proteges  and rest in peace.

Al and Anne have been mine and Shirley’s very best friends for the past 60 years. Al was a great man and was lots of fun to be with. We have lots of memories that we will cherish to include several RV vacation trips to include Canada and other locations in USA. Also a cruise to Alaska and vacation in Hawaii. We enjoyed several trips to visit Al and Anne at their homes in Virginia and Florida. Al was the very best hunter and trout fisherman and we had lots of fun fishing in Poverty Creek while I was going to Va Tech. Shirley and I will miss Al but treasure our many fond memories. Our deepest sympathy is with Anne, Sarah, and Tim.

I can’t say enough about Al and Anne Booth and the impact they left on my brother and me growing up. Hanging with Tim (and Sarah) at their house was truly special. 

We spent many days and nights at Al’s house growing up. Sledding, driving a 4-wheeler, getting warm by his 2 wood stoves that could really pump out the heat, we’d visit old Mr Sinclair who lived in the mountains behind Al (he had no electricity or running water), we’d camp and trout fish (traveling in the back of Al’s camper topped pickup was a treat).  Al would always catch his fish  limit— then move on to Tim’s, Erik’s and mine. I was always amazed at how easy he made it look. 

Al (“Mr. Booth”) hired me for my first job at Jefferson National Bank in the summers during my college years.  He didn’t like me working with another college hire since “two boys makes one happy boy “ he would say. I still laugh about that. My summer job led to my full time bank job after college and those opportunities I give full credit to Al.  

Al told me eating broccoli would put hair on my chest. It worked Al. Those few bites worked all too well—ha.  

I’ll miss you Al but your memory will never be forgotten.

Anne, Sending you our love as you cherish the memories of Al.  What a wonderful life the two of you shared and the legacy you both created for your family.

Al  was more than a boss to me at the bank. He was a great friend,mentor and father figure. He taught me how to hunt and shared his love of the outdoors with me. We had many adventures both at work and outside of work. He loved his family and the Lord Jesus Christ and shared the Gospel with me as well. Rest in Peace my Friend!! Anne, Tim and Sara Lisa and I love you and are here to support you in away we can.

 I wish I was there in person to give you a hug, but since I cannot you can pretend I am there holding your hand.   You and Al are special to me because my Mom and Dad loved you and Al and they would share stories about your friendship adventures.

We are so sorry to hear about Al's passing.  He was an incredible man, and he had an impact on you, whether you met him for the first time or you had known him for years.   He genuinely cared about you, and you learned something from him with every conversation.  There are so many great times our family has had with the Booth family.  To name a few, we would snow sled and ski on their 1/4 mile hill, tell stories by the fire pit, roast marshmallows, listen to live music, and camp and trout fish at Poverty Creek.   We watched every Superbowl together from about 1979-1990 at their house, and we would fondu just about everything.   There was always a stew that had been cooking in the crackpot for about 24 hours.   One time, Al snuck venison (from his farm) into the stew and called  it "beef" stew.   He waited for us to take a bite, and then he laughed hysterically when we figured out it wasn't a chuck roast.  Its an acquired taste, and we came to enjoy it years later.  He had a great sense of humor with his trickery and jokes and always kept you on your toes.   He loved his family and friends unconditionally.  We miss you and love you, Al!  Sending our thoughts, prayers, and love to the Booth family!
