Betty Grace Nance Westfall

Betty Grace Nance Westfall, age 90, of Troy, VA, passed away peacefully while surrounded by her family on June 9, 2023. She was born in Raleigh, NC to Ralph and Ruby (Lancaster) Nance, both deceased. She was preceded in death by her very loving and enthusiastic husband, William (Wes, Bill) Westfall, her brother Ralph Nance, Jr. (survived by Elaine Nance), and her granddaughter Melissa Westfall. Betty is survived by her daughter Sherry Westfall (husband Jim Condon) of North Garden, son William Westfall, Jr. of Charlottesville, daughter Cynthia Stevens (husband Keith) of Troy, grandchildren Dylan West of Dillwyn, Andrew Stevens of Nashville, TN, and Emily Stevens of Troy, and a number of nieces and nephews. Betty graduated from Petersburg High School in Petersburg, VA and the Johnston-Willis School Of Nursing in Richmond, VA, where she became a Registered Nurse. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend and attended Palmyra United Methodist Church. She worked to put her husband through college and spent most of her life as a homemaker, taking care of her very busy family and supporting her community and her children’s school activities. Betty will most be remembered for her warm and loving smile and her ability to make people feel welcome and comfortable. She had an infectious sense of humor and quirky sayings, with a quick wit to match. Betty was courageous and had a fighting spirit that helped her through some very serious medical and life challenges. She will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched.
