Donald “Davy” Davis Layne Jr., 59, of Crozet, passed away Thursday, February 26, 2026
Born on July 17, 1966, he was a devoted husband, beloved father, grandfather, and a friend to all. He was proceeded in death by his wife Dana Jessee Layne, father Donald Davis Layne Sr.; paternal grandparents George and Janice Layne; maternal grandparents Berlin and Aleese Funk; uncle Roger and aunt Fay Baber; and cousin Charles “Bubba” Baber.
He is survived by his mother Betty Layne; brothers Rodney Layne and wife Alissa, Gregory Layne and wife Jennifer; three sons William “Willie” Layne and wife Megan, Michael Layne, Chris Layne and wife Audrey; six grandchildren Hunter, Noah, Addison, Kyler, Kylen, and Chloe; uncle Berlin “Lin” Funk; numerous nephews, niece, cousins, and many other family members.
Davy enjoyed and served many years in the Crozet Volunteer Fire Department, retired from Monticello the home of Thomas Jefferson, loyal fan of the Washington “Redskins” Commanders and North Carolina Tar Heels, Wrestling, and coaching Peachtree Little League Baseball starting at the age of fifteen. He also enjoyed camping, walking in the great outdoors, and being with family.
