Edward Franklin Melton

Edward “Frank” Melton, 79, of Ruckersville, Virginia, passed away in the early morning hours on November 22, 2017 at the Martha Jefferson Hospital, Charlottesville, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward S & Gertrude Melton, sister Annie Fields and son-in-law Avis McAllister. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Shirley McAllister Melton. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his brother-in-law Greg McAllister and wife, Lee of Ruckersville; brother-in-law, Sonny McAllister and wife, Marie of Barboursville; nephew, Billy Fields and wife, Bev, of Barboursville; nieces Ginny Fields, of Richmond; Wendy Rogers of Stanardsville; Kathy Dorman of Charlottesville and numerous cousins. After attending Lane High School, he immediately joined the U.S. Air Force. Frank volunteered for many years with the Earlysville Fire Company and was a member of the Elks Lodge 389. He retired from Sears after 47 years of employment. Shirley and Frank traveled extensively with good friends JoAnn and Frank. In addition to being totally devoted to Shirley, he will be remembered for his love of family and friends and will be missed by all. Thank you to special friends -Rosie, Susan, Rodney, Sterlon and Mary. At Frank’s request, there will be no services.
