Frances Knight Sprouse, 64, of Earlysville, Virginia, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 24, 2023, after a long, hard battle with cancer at the Hospice House on Park Street, Charlottesville. She was born on October 7, 1958, to the late Edward P. (2004) and Ruth J. Knight of Dyke, Virginia, at the Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville, Virginia.
In addition to her mother, she leaves to cherish her memory a husband, David Spouse, Jr of Earlysville, Virginia, four sons, Kenneth Maupin, of Keswick, Kyle (Kara) Maupin of Palmyra, David Lee (Lauren) Sprouse III of Waynesboro, and Justin Sprouse of Earlysville; and three daughters, Kristin Miller of Palmyra, VA, Elizabeth Sprouse of Scottsville, and Hailey Sprouse, of Ruckersville, VA. She is, also, survived by a brother, Bradley Knight of Dyke and a sister, Joyce (Larry) Shifflett of Dyke. She has 15 grandchildren, Makenzie, Conner, and Chelsea Maupin of Keswick; Ethan, Brayden, and Amberle Maupin of Palmyra; Brett, Anthony, and Palmer Sprouse of Waynesboro; and Khylie, Madysen, Loghan, and Nevaeh Sprouse of Scottsville, and Jason and Christina Roach of Scottsville; as well as two aunts, Ruby Shifflett of Ruckersville, and Ida (Ken) Smith of Louisburg North Carolina; one uncle, Larry Knight of Whitsett, North Carolina; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She loved all her cousins very much, but there was one, Roxanne Snow Critzer, who was like a sister to her and her siblings because she lived next door to them all throughout their childhood and teenage lives. Also, she had many friends that loved her, especially Patty Goetz and Georgia Fowler. The family would like to thank the UVa Cancer Center physicians, the Hospice House staff, and Nikki Maupin as well as many other people for taking care of Frances during her long battle with cancer. In addition, the family would like to thank Ruby Shifflett for transporting Frances to her various appointments, when needed.
In addition to her dad, she is predeceased by her maternal grandparents, James Clyde and Matilda Florence Williams Knight; paternal grandparents, James F. (Jim) and Maggie Lawson Knight; a daughter, Jennifer Renee Maupin; 8 uncles, Lawrence, Elden, James “Aubrey”, George, Sherman, Roman, James “Buddy”, and Kenny Knight; 4 aunts, Margaret Snow, Dorothy Lawson, Maytriss Ramsey, and Mary Betty Knight.
There will be service to celebrate and honor Frances’ life at the Nortonsville Church of God on March 18, 2023, at 2-6 pm.
