Jean Babiarz passed away peacefully on January 18, 2026 at the age of 87. A determined and loving mother, she raised three sons Michael David Babiarz, Gregory John Babiarz; and Timothy Steven Babiarz.
As a Mother, she made many sacrifices for her boys while willingly devoting her time and her unwavering love. Often, her patience was tested. Even then, she would send her boys into the world with a kiss on the cheek and the stern admonishment "if you go out without a jacket, you will catch a chill!"
She is survived by her sons Greg Babiarz and Tim (Ashley) Babiarz, Granddaughter Natalie Babiarz, Grandson Brooks Babiarz and her sister Marilyn Hayes. Predeceasing her were her son Michael David Babiarz, her mother Vida Beach, father Earl Beach, brothers Larry Beach and Bob Beach.
An adventurous soul, Jean moved from her home in upstate New York to Durham, North Carolina to raise her sons Greg and Tim. Her hard work and feisty independence were on full display in Durham where she worked in medical records and as an entrepreneur with two small businesses in marketing.
Later in life, Jean once again relocated to idyllic Charlottesville, Virginia which she quickly adopted as her own. Exploring Charlottesville's rich history like Monticello and Michie Tavern, touring local farms/festivals; and leaf peeping on the Blue Ridge Parkway helped whet her appetite for excitement.
A devout fan of the written word, Jean was a voracious reader. Her thirst for knowledge covered many genres -- from romance to history to fiction -- with many eclectic titles in between. Almost as fast as a woodchipper, she devoured all of Pat Conroy's books. In fact, Jean was most happy curling up with a good book with her trusty cat Pepper by her side.
As a woman of faith, Jean and her family are blessed to know God's grace and the promise that we will be reunited with loved ones, restored to good health; and welcomed into the kingdom of God. Please take comfort knowing she has found peace and joy in heaven.
A gravesite service will be held on Friday January 23, 2026 at 10 am at Monticello Memory Gardens 670 Thomas Jefferson Parkway Charlottesville, VA 22902 (434) 296-5682.
In lieu of flowers, you may wish to honor Jean Babiarz and Pepper by making a donation to Charlottesville Albamarle SPCA (CASPCA.ORG)(434) 973-5959 or to your local Hospice.
