Jo Anne (Marsh) Dudley

Jo Anne (Marsh) Dudley was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, and friend. Jo Anne passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2022, at the age of 80 at home surrounded by loved ones after a courageous battle with dementia.

Jo Anne was born on September 15, 1941, to the late Charles and Eunice Marsh. Jo Anne married her husband of 54 years at the age of 17 in Charlottesville, Virginia. She dedicated her working career to the Martha Jefferson where she served as a food service clerk for 25 years.

Jo Anne loved spending time in the kitchen, creating delicious desserts for her friends and family. During the holiday seasons, friends and family would gather in her kitchen for tastes of her cookies, cakes, and fudge. She had a green thumb and loved spending time planting and caring for her flowers.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Allen Dudley, brothers Franklin, Charlie, Sidney, sisters Anna and Mary, brother-in-laws Winfred “Winky,” George, James, Cosby Dudley, sister-in-law Violet Dudley, cousin Anne Thompson, and nieces Linda McCallister and Sandra Marsh.

Jo Anne is survived by her daughter, Hope Wood (Randy), grandchildren, Tanner and Hayley Wood, brother-in-laws Joe (Ruth) and Charles (Shirley) Dudley, sister-in-laws Kathy and Marjorie Dudley, and numerous nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

The family expresses a sincere thank you to the staff and volunteers of Heartland Hospice for the tremendous care over the past 4 months. Additionally, the family would like to thank the staff at the Renaissance for the special care that they provided over the last 3 years.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Holly Memorial Gardens, 3251 Seminole Trl. Charlottesville, VA 22911.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association to help find a cure.
